Lawyer terms
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms apply to lawyers who apply to read cases that people share with them on TellYourCase. You accept them when you apply.
Verification
- We check each lawyer's bar membership by hand before shared cases open. Your application must come from your firm's own email domain.
- Tell us if your license status changes. We may suspend access while we check.
Confidentiality
- A shared case is confidential. Read it only to evaluate whether to represent the person who shared it, and don't share it outside your firm.
- You see only what the person chose to include. They can remove your access at any time, and access ends when their link expires.
- We record when your firm opens a case and downloads a file, and the person can see that their case was opened.
Contacting the person
- Ask questions through "Ask for information" in the case. Follow your state's rules on advertising and solicitation in any contact.
- TellYourCase doesn't take referral fees and isn't a party to any engagement between you and the person.
